The Health Pillar of Prosperity Part 2
The Health Pillar of Prosperity Part 2
The only way to take control of your life, raise your standard of living and move beyond merely surviving is to create your own unique product or service that you offer to increasing numbers of people in exchange for the things of value that you desire. This simple formula applies to countries as well as people. A self-sufficient economy has its own products or services of value to export to the world. Similarly, a self-sufficient individual has something of value to exchange in the global marketplace. That thing of value is based on your natural talent, skill, or interest—in other words, your passion!
As important as investors, tourists, entrepreneurs and the culture-conscious to a nation’s prosperity is the existence of a health consciousness that moves the population towards vitality and away from decay and deterioration. Neither an individual nor a nation can effectively create, sustain or enjoy wealth and prosperity unless their mental, emotional and physical health exists in a state of balance and tends towards improvement.
Last week I asked the question "Is the universe (God, nature) flawed or perfect?" The answer to this question may very well form the basis of a "new" paradigm of health.
Though they may not admit it, many people actually believe that nature is flawed. By extension, they believe their bodies are also flawed and fragile and at the mercy of the next evil germ that approaches. They believe that nature didn't get it right, and that man must improve on nature, and that pills and potions created in laboratories are improving on the original design. It is that belief system that keeps people powerless and dependent on doctors, pills, chemicals and using an insurance plan as a health plan.
What I'd like to suggest to you is that if you believe that God is perfect, then shouldn't it stand to reason that, at the very least, there is some intelligence behind the design of the human body? Does God, in fact, need man to improve upon his design? I suggest to you that the answer is no.
Similarly, if you believe that evolution alone is responsible for what exists in nature, then you must conclude that for nature to have evolved and survived for millions of years, the plan or directive upon which that survival is based must be at work, universal and accessible to every living thing. It must be available to all, even the least among us. From amebas to apes, from paramecia to people, the coding has to work for all alike. Evolution's instruction manual has to be easy enough for even a fool to get it. Survival is the prime directive for all life. Your body, therefore, is a microcosm of the coding of the universe.
So, whether you believe in creation, or what's now called 'intelligent design,' or evolution, you can, with some thought, arrive at the same conclusion, which is the foundational premise of this new paradigm: Nature is foolproof and perfect in design.
1. Nature is Foolproof
Nature is a simple, closed, self-contained system coded for survival. In other words, everything nature needs for its own survival is built right in. By the same token, everything that man, as part of nature, has ever needed to survive and thrive has been built into nature’s plan so that any fool can master it. Before there were clinics and PhDs, man was able to survive. The plan was in effect. The challenges many people today are facing in matters of health occur for the simple reason that we are not in alignment with that plan. Therefore, the only requirement to reclaim your birthright to good health is to move into closer alignment with that plan.
So what is that plan? A simple way to think about it is to picture the Biblical Garden of Eden. Anything that was there in the garden is part of the plan. Anything that was not there at the beginning, is not. Fruits, vegetables, sea weed, nuts, and even sunlight, provide the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and everything that is necessary to sustain and advance life. Again, you have to believe that nature is foolproof, and what was here in the beginning is what is most needed, most beneficial, and originally designed for the benefit of the human body. Everything else is not part of the plan. To be healthy, therefore, you cannot believe that pizza is an improvement over the original plan.
So, as in love as you may be with the taste and convenience of fast food, remember, it was not here in the beginning. Everything you eat therefore, must be able to pass this simple test: “was it there in the garden?” If you can answer yes, then it qualifies as food. If not, then eating it will move you farther away from the plan, and farther away from perfect health. (Later we'll expand on this idea and give you a way to determine what is really food, and what is not.)
2. The Body is Coded to Heal
The next radical idea that needs to be accepted to move you towards perfect health is that the body is coded to heal. In other words, left to its own devices, the human body is designed to cure itself. From cuts and bruises to viruses and bacteria, the body has an arsenal of weapons to heal and get better.
Voltaire, the French author, essayist and philosopher said it best:
"The art of medicine consists of keeping the patient amused while nature heals the disease."
Voltaire, like many enlightened thinkers and observers, realized that our bodies are constantly healing. That’s all we ever do. Every cell in our bodies is replaced every seven years. Our skin is constantly shedding and regenerating. White blood cells are killing germs that enter our bodies. Everything you think of as illness, the sneezing, coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, the fevers; every ache and pain is actually the body at work healing itself. The power to heal is something you were born with. It's also part of the plan.
[Excerpt from The Ageless Adept; the seeker responds to this idea]
"It seems too simple," I said. "I mean, I can see how the healing code concept could work in a simple Garden of Eden setting, but life these days is too complicated. What if the original coding just isn’t enough?"
"Good point. The other thing to know," the Adept continued, "is that, as products of Nature, our human coding is inextricably linked to the natural environment. Everything that moves us out of balance with the natural order suppresses our coding a bit more. We were designed to function optimally in an environment with specific ingredients in specific combinations. Air, sunlight, plant and animal life, minerals and ecosystems, were designed to support each other and keep our codes activated. And that’s how it was for thousands of years.
"But now, as a result of man’s influence on the planet, and the consequences of our free will to deviate from the plan, everything from the earth’s magnetic field, oxygen level, ultra-violet rays, air purity, soil composition, to the planet’s water have all been shifted into a state of dissonance and disharmony that further suppress nature’s codes. As a result, there are certain levels of purity and balance that the earth is no longer able to create or sustain, and we are all feeling its effects.
So anything that you can do to return your body and its environment to the original pristine state-everything from putting plants in your home, using air purifiers, to eating organic food-all serve to reactivate your body’s dormant code for healing.” [End of excerpt]
3. There is only one illness
Now, with that said, the next radical belief to be entertained is this: every single illness that afflicts mankind can be remedied and healed by simply aligning the body with the original plan. But, don't go looking through your medical journal for a list of ailments to ponder. The simplicity of the plan makes that unnecessary. (Remember, you don't need a medical opinion to eat a vegetable.) The truth is, there is only one illness. Yes, while there may be more names to describe the body's responses to all the unnatural influences that exist in our society and lives, the foundational cause of illness stays the same. And there is only one. Can you guess what that is?
And that, my friends, will be our topic for next time!
